Video Title: Open Doors
Fandom: BBC Sherlock
Pairing: Molliarty (Molly Hooper & Jim Moriarty), minor implied Johnlock (slash or gen)
Song: “Go Long” by Joanna Newsom
Warnings: S1-S2 Sherlock spoilers, character death/suicidality, violence
Description: “Last night, again, you were in my dreams.” Molly Hooper mourns for the loneliness of those mighty men who know little else but violence. Most of all, she mourns for Jim Moriarty. Post-Reichenbach, within the canon universe. The title, a lyric, refers to the multitudes of possibilities Molly could have chosen, had things only been a little different, had Moriarty only asked her to save him.
Notes: Beyond a Molliarty angst fest, this is also an attempt to bring a feminist framework to Molly’s character, in the awareness of the hyper-masculinization and violence of the male characters, the fact that she’s always left behind, and the fact that her frequent cheerful compassion is disparaged because it’s seen as pathetic and “womanly.”
